Here’s a really great interview with Avril Haye Matsui, a British woman who is married to a Japanese man. Avril founded an organisation called Black Women in Japan which can be found on Facebook.
I remember briefly meeting Avril at the Kyoto Convention. Her beautiful smile made me feel so relaxed and at ease. A truly lovely woman, inside and out.
Today I met a fellow AFWJ member for lunch at Ikea. We had lots of fun and laughs and we were able to share a lot of stories. Sometimes living in a more rural part of Japan it is hard to meet other foreign women so it was a lovely opportunity.
I couldn’t resist the hazelnut chocolate and Daim bars on the way out.
If you have been thinking about joining AFWJ or if it has been 3 years or more since you were a member then you can take advantage of our new Membership Special price plan. You can get a year and half membership for only 8,000 yen.
With our new, upgraded website it is really quick and easy to join online. We even accept payment by PayPal.
We hope to see you soon!
